How To Make A Living From Mystery Shopping

I figured, like the extreme couponers or extreme cheapskates, with a lot of focus someone really could make a living from mystery shopping. I, however, wouldn't want to. I enjoy doing it for the extra money, but my regular job is actually much easier and pays better vs. mystery shopping (however, all my OT gets banked as additional paid time off so I can't work extra hours to get a bigger paycheck, which is why MS is a nice side thing to do). It's also nice to know that, should something happen ever happen with my regular job, I could MS to bring in money while looking for another job.

I'm curious about this Rewardable app. I have been looking to see if Walmart is shopped, and all I could find was a thread saying that Walmart is not a company that is shopped from someone who claimed to formerly be a part of Walmart management. So I'll have to check this Rewardable app out. I'm thinking it probably isn't that Walmart is the client, but rather the location in which the shop occurs.

I know this is the case with the GigWalk app anyway. I've done a number of audits inside Walmart, but not for Walmart. Typically, it would seem to be an outside company that is wanting to know that their products are being advertised and put up on display according to whatever agreements they have with Walmart or whoever. Some of them are so easy and quick to do. Like for one gig, all I had to do was put six instant redeemable stickers on a particular product, take a picture of it and that was it for $9. Took me just a couple of minutes...

Now if only I could line up a bunch of those, then I could see how making a living a mystery shopping would be possible...

Snoopy, don't pay too much attention to that poster. We have had a rash of "new members" who sign up to post about that app. If they return it is only to bump up the thread. They do not respond to any of us and act like we do not exist. In other words, it is all free advertising by people or a person who is fraudulently posing as one of us.

Actually, I am glad the Rewardable app was mentioned because it prompted me to take another look at what other smartphone apps can be used to make money. I tried out the Rewardable app and it turns out the Rewardable app is not something I'd recommend for those looking to make a living mystery shopping. When I got on it what I found were job offers that read along the lines of spend $5.00, make $3.00 - not a profit maker. In fact, it would appear you actually end up losing money with this app instead of making it. So if someone was looking to get some free advertising by spamming the forum about this app, they just got a little negative PR instead.

However, I do think it's possible to make some money through smartphone apps - just not the Rewardable App. GigWalk is at least one company that I know of, and have experience with, that offers work through a smartphone app. Though I would not necessarily consider GigWalk a mystery shopping company. It was only recently that they started adding some product audit jobs to their job board that tend to quickly get snatched up.
This thread keeps showing up as having a new post, but when I click on it, it's a dead link. My theory is that a post may have been deleted. Besides reporting a glitch, I'm testing to see if making my own post will eliminate it. (I'm assuming that it's happening with everyone, not just me.)
That was happening yesterday after all the other issues. I just used the "Mark Forum Read" link to get rid of the dang thingsmiling smiley

And I thought I was the only one who is anal about the red "new" on the threads.

On a related note, I've noticed it happens very often with the New Mystery Shopper forum but not the others.

I to just started last month only have 2 companies for ms and 1 company for demos. I've done 2 shops for each company and 1 demo so far. I'm just afraid to take on to many jobs then not fill one out correctly and lose my standing with that company. So keeping my 3days a week job and adding 1 new company a month as I feel comfortable. This is just for covering my monthly things I'd be doing anyways and that fine dining is my date nite each month lol Gotta pay attention to him if i keep buzy with coupons and shops and demos and daycare and full time job lol

I to have really enjoyed all you seasoned shoppers feedback on this newbie forum it has opened my eyes to possible potential and things to avoid I didn't even think would be involved. smiling smiley
