Non returnable

I did a mystery shop which said you can't return an item. So I asked for a gift receipt as well as the normal one so it could possibly be exchanged later. Is it okay to exchange? Why do they not allow returns?

Cafe - they don't allow returns because they consider the purchase part of the payment, and to allow you to return it would change their cost for the shop. Here's why. They pay $6.00 for an item sold for $10.00. You select this item and leave the store with it.

If you return the item, they will incur the cost of handling the return transaction and restocking the item, plus they will give you $10.00 for an item for which they originally only paid $6.00. Therefore, the return has cost them $4.00 plus the cost of handling the transaction and restocking the item.

Some shops specify no returns and some do not. You can take this into consideration when accepting the shop.

Asking for a gift receipt is a work-around to the problem that may backfire. Since the gift receipt identification numbers will tie into the original receipt identification numbers, this approach could cause you to lose shopping privileges with that MSP.

I recently did a shop for MSI. It paid $5 and was supposed to reimburse me for $20. I was paid the $5, but no reimbursement. There were no issues, no feedback and they haven't replied to my email. Anyone have this problem with MSI?
Thanks for that.

What if it is exchanged for a higher value item? Is that okay since it doesn't say non exchangeable and will be paying more than I paid last time.
I'm a male with no prospects. I have the opportunity to do a jewelry shop for a female. There is reimbursement but no returns are allowed.

Would it be ok if I either sold the purchase on ebay or pawned the purchase? Or is that going to raise possible conflicts with the MSC?

If there are no returns allowed, it's yours - and being yours, I think you can keep, throw away, give away, donate, or sell - ebay, garage sale, pawn shop, whatever. But I would not do a shop if I definitely did not fit the criteria. Age can blur a little - 50 can look 40 so there is a little leeway. And a shopper can dress up or dress down. But if the shop requires female and you are male it would be a problem for me. Some shops require a male shopper and I respect the requirements and do not take them.

Thanks AustinMom. The shop criteria say that a male can shop for a gift, my apologies for not making that clear in my original post. Maybe I'll learn not to post in the wee hours when the brain isn't fully in gear. ;-)
No problem then .... I have a couple that require a male and I am OK if I take a male with me or if I buy a gift for a male. Then there's a couple I'm shut out from .... either age or gender. I stock up a lot of gifts MSing. So far I haven't sold any on ebay ..... but I buy a lot of ebay!!
Woohoo! I just sold the earrings for what I paid for them, and I'm able to mail them using a USPS shop, so no shipping fee. Doesn't get any better.
