how many companies to sign up with?
Sign up with a bunch. Thats the only real way to find out the good shops in Jersey...

You'll find that a lot of serious shoppers sign up with over 150 (some 200+) MSC's - and are STILL signing up with companies when they find new ones.
There's no way you can ever sign up for too many. Heck, I signed up with some companies that are only in Asia - but, maybe someday they'll have a job here and I'm in the database.
Like MrC said - the only way for you to find jobs in your area is to settle in and have a go at signing up for the companies!
As far as keeping track of jobs, there are several discussions on these topics.
Hopefully you are using a spreadsheet, keeping track of log in information, URL's, PW's, UN's, pay periods, etc. If not, make sure you search "spreadsheet" - that will give you an idea.

I set aside 3 days and I spent all day applying to every single one of those mystery shopping companies. I wrote out a shopping experience in word because many of the companies require a sample of your writing and then I could just cut and paste it every time one of the companies asked for it.
If you want to be a busy mystery shopper, sign up with them all. If you just want to do a few jobs a week then just sign up with the main seven.

You are going to need to learn to do the searching yourself. If you are not sure how to do a search, or where the "search" link is on the forums, please ask for help. There's a ton of information, and the only way you are going to learn is just like the rest of us. Someone else asked a similar question on a different thread, and one person made this comment, which describes shoppers:
A Good Mystery Shopper knows how to research. It's part of the job.
What are my main 7 may not be another shoppers. What works for another shopper may not work for me. If you click on my Username, you will find a list of posts that I either posted in or started.
Look specifically for the "New Members Posts" - read and review and read again, the Introductory/Welcome post I try and make to new shoppers. That will help get you off the ground and running. THEN, come back into the New Members section and review all of the "sticky threads" - the ones at the top of the page and written by Flash. Read, read, and read again - a wealth of information!

Yes and keep signing up because the MSCs lose and gain clients all the time. It is not static. Download Roboform.com No magic bullet.
