Most discreet way to take pictures of a storefront

Hello, does anyone have any tricks on how to best take pix of a storefront discreetly? This seems to me like a definite giveaway that you are a shopper. I have done shops in malls and amusement parks with my wife where I would pretend to take a picture of her. However, these shops will not be in a mall and I will be by myself. Any suggestions?

If I am in a mall, I just wait until the employee is busy with customers and then snap the picture.
My most frequent is to find a parking space directly in front of the store that through my driver side window has a great view. I have been known to back into parking spaces so I have a good view through the driver side window because that way I can generally avoid parts of other vehicles. I do my shop and once I leave I take the photo. Having done the observations inside first, I will know if folks are bored and staring out the windows. Also if I am by some chance spotted and reported as the shopper, my inside observations cannot have been compromised because they didn't identify me until I was taking the photo. But I've never been spotted that I know of doing photos.
I take exterior of store inside mall before doing job...kinda stand to side so employees don't see you, no problem as folks doing normal shopping don't care.
You just don't want the employee to see, and their usually behind the counter,
not close to the front.

Thanks to all of you! I like the idea of taking the pix from inside the car AFTER the shop. Cool! I never thought about taking it after the shop versus before it but that makes a lot of sense.
I just did one the other day and drove across the street and was able to zoom in and get a great picture. I always take mine after the shop and usually from the car.

I have done mine from across the street, too. Had one not too long ago where windshield was dirty and so my photo looked like it was snowing. LOL
I will give it a shot. It's raining today and will rain on Wednesday here so my windshield might be a factor. It will look funny but should do the trick. I assume that as long as the locations can be identified, that should suffice.
Just roll down your side window long enough to catch the shot and then roll it back up again.
What about inside the mall, like the one sneaker shop requires, does before or after shop make better sense, for me it's before, once I'm through evaluating,
I go home, nothing else to remember...if I wait till after, I'll forget.

I pretended to be making a call on my cell phone out in the parking lot and "just happened" to take a couple of photos. I drove to an adjoining parking lot and sent the photos via e-mail to my home computer where they were waiting for me to upload with my report.

i remember years ago they wanted pictures of fastfood menu boards on the inside without them seeing you. I laughed.

Actually, while lunching with another shopper this week, he showed me how to take pictures with my phone while it was up to my ear. Apparently having a smart phone doesn't necessarily make me smart, LOL!
