Freaking out a little bit

I signed up for a mystery shop with MF that I, for some reason, after reading the report 20 times, thought was due on Friday. Wrote it down on the calendar as Friday. Planned out what time I was going to go on Friday. What time I was going to turn it in Friday. I get an email this morning kindly letting me know that it was due YESTERDAY. It's my 2nd shop with them, the first one was done with such care. I'm freaking out so bad. I take such pride in doing these correctly and can't believe I got the date off by one day. I even thought when I signed up, that I was signing up for Friday because that's my our "going out" day. The email gave me the option to reschedule, which I did for tomorrow and it seemed pretty easy. There wasn't any wrist slapping (I did all that myself) but I'm SO worried because I've heard they drop people like flies for less offenses. Has this happened to anyone? Where you truely thought your shop was due on a certain day and you were wrong? What were the consequences? Really kicking myself and feeling pretty bad.

I'm sure most of us have done the same thing at one time or another. With me it is more likely to happen when they have a drop down calendar since some of them run Sunday through Saturday and a few are Monday through Sunday. It's a good sign they let you reschedule instead of cancelling the job. While it may be unnecessary I would drop them an e-mail with a mea culpa and explanation.

If you were able to reassign, you should be okay, though it will be reflectd in your record. As Lisa suggested, I would email the Help Desk, explain and apologize.
@ Jennifer -

I think you and I are on the same wavelength this week!

For some oddball reason, every day this week for me has been off by one day! I kept thinking Monday was the 1st, Tues. the 2nd, Wed. the 3rd. I really had to juggle everything and email schedulers and fix my idiotic time-table that I created this week. Talk about embarrassing!

I've had to reschedule with MF, and they've been very accommodating. I know that they are not a good company on a lot of folk's list, but so far I haven't had any problems. Just follow the lead from the posters above.

AND - don't beat yourself up. It happens - and probably to a lot of experienced (several years) shoppers too at times.

And 'freaking out a little bit' is a good sign because it shows you care about doing it right. So the apology and thanks for the reschedule approach should put you in good standing. Indeed most of us slip up from time to time, no matter how hard we try not to. The best approach is always to own the error, deal with it and move on more determined that it won't happen again.

MF and other companies that are reasonable look for patterns of behavior rather than single incidents (unless the single incident is just outrageous).
Yes...this is my crazy week too.

On Thursday I was on the CRI website looking around for weekend jobs. Then I got their commission increase email. I saw a location for a gas station that is only 5 miles from my house that paid really, really well. I went on their website to schedule it, but it wasn't there. So I emailed the help desk "Where is it" Later on I got email back saying they had it scheduled, but thank you. So I went on my way....Then, On FRIDAY I felt like I was missing something all day. Couldn't figure it out. I scheduled one MF job that day and that was it. I did my MF job, was reporting it, playing around on here and at 11:39 PM it hit me, I assigned myself that job I emailed the help desk about (why I emailed them, I don't know brain fart of some kind that I already assigned it to MYSELF). Then I didn't know what to do....I read guidelines, didn't say I couldn't do it at night. In fact guidelines say the job will fit into 1 of 3 shifts...11-7 being one of them. So I tugged on my jeans and ran to do the job real quick. Since it was a 2 photo mystery shop I got back home at 11:59 PM and reported the job. I don't know if it will be accepted, but better than flaking I guess.

I just don't know where my head is this week either...maybe April fools was too much for all of us? Or starting the month on a Sunday was a problem?
