Help needed

I just started mystery shopping a few weeks ago. I was not able to complete two assignments because of the store. I was supposed to meet with a specialist banker at HSBC, however, the banking location did not have a a specialist banker on staff and said I could make an appointment for her to come back another day which the instructions said I was not supposed to do. I wrote the report basically saying I could not complete the assignment. Today, I had a merchandising assignment through Market Force Purple Portal to restock some balloons at a local Walmart. The store manager told me they don't have any balloons or a heilium tank and basically told me to leave???

What do you do when things that are out of your control keep you from fulfilling an assignment? Do I write the reports stating I could not complete the assignment because of the store? I don't want to get negative ratings as a shopper but I am not quite sure what to do.

Generally it helps to call the MSC after the shop and explain the situation and find out how they would like you to proceed. However if you can't get ahold of anyone I would go ahead and submit the report listing in detail exactly what happened plus any other observations you were able to make while there. If you weren't able to get a receipt you might take a picture of outside of the building as proof and submit that as your receipt. There is a 50/50 chance you will get paid, it just depends on the company but generally when there is a situation beyond your control most MSC are pretty understanding. Oh, and I remember doing a merchandising job for MF and the display was already taken down at the store so I couldn't do anything and they still payed me the full fee.

If the instructions say that the shopper is NOT to set up an appointment (stated in the OP), that is not going to be an option. Hopefully the shopper contacted the MSPs to ask how they wanted the situations handled.
